There are lots of Osprey here in Coeur D'Alene.  These are platforms for the birds to build their nests.  This is part of the view from LeeAnn and Bob's patio!

Soaring osprey!

LeeAnn and me in the elevator!  This was a new experience for this fine puppy dog!

We slept in today to give Mama’s feet a chance to heal.  She felt much better.  We had a great hike around Tubbs Hill which is a wilderness park right in downtown Coeur D’Alene!    Tubbs Hill consists of over 120 acres and is bordered by Lake Coeur d'Alene on the west, south and east sides. There are several miles of hiking trails on the hill that provide spectacular scenery for everyone to enjoy.  This silly dog sure enjoys it!  We played fetch at one of the little beaches.  There were lots of choppy waves but I played lots of fetch anyway!  LeeAnn was laughing and having a great time as well.

A natural osprey nest.

After our hike, we stopped at the Bakery by the Lake for a little treat.  They have outdoor seating so I got to sit with them and enjoy little treats!  LeeAnn bought me a couple of doggy biscuits baked in the shop.  Yummy!

After lunch we went up to Mineral Ridge to do another hike.   The 3.3-mile trail was part of the first BLM recreation site developed in Idaho.  Construction began in 1963.  In 1982, the trail was designed as a National Recreation Trail and offers an invigorating hike and beautiful views of Lake Coeur d'Alene.  A Trail Guide describes the plants, animals and interrelationships of the forest at 22 marked stations along the trail.  LeeAnn made it on the entire loop!  It was quite a climb to the top, and steep coming down, lots of switchbacks.  We really enjoyed it!

We took longer than expected for our hike, so we went straight to Nancy and Vaughn’s house (old neighbors and friends of LeeAnn and Bob).  Nancy cooked the nicest dinner for us.  We had a super visit.  LeeAnn and Bob used to live near them, at a community where the homes all have airplane hangars and most owners have one (or two) airplanes.  We toured around in Nancy’s utility vehicle and saw LeeAnn’s old house.

After dinner, Vaughn played lots of fetch with me, he would hit the ball with a tennis racket way out into the field and I ran to get it.  We had sooooo much fun!
Turned into a late night.  I was sleeping as we drove home.  But we had to stop at the store on the way home, to buy ingredients for homemade dog biscuits!  Mama and LeeAnn are going to bake tomorrow.  We get to take the treats to Dog Camp!
Well, this puppy is very tired.  Off to bed!
